OK, So Now We Might Be Getting Answers…

The Morphicus saga concludes with a freeze in this issue.  Hawkman beats back Morphicus and gets some material from Dr. Kane.  Someone called Waker helps Hawkman out, and gives us a possible answer as to who the hell this Hawkman is.

This entire book is moving too slowly.  It is no wonder it is on the chopping block.  We are four issues in and we still have no idea who this Hawkman is or why he is so angry.  The art, while colorful, at times is a little choppy and the pacing is all set off.  I am finally starting to get used to the new armor, etc., but still don’t like the symbiotic nature of the Nth metal.

In this issue, we get the impression that this metal is Thanagarian…and not just that, but that Waker calls Hawkman Katar Hol.  So, is this the alien Hawkman from Thanagar.  Signs point to yes, but he doesn’t seem to remember it.  And why does Hawkman feel guilty?  What are the sins he has committed?  Who is Kane?  Is he really about helping or hurting?  What is the deal?

Too many questions in many cases this far in.  It seems Daniel and Tan are more concerned with developing the supporting cast than telling us about the main character.  Things are not looking good for my favorite Avian.
