I continue to be amazed by Snyder and Capullo’s work.  The tone and feel of the book reminds me of the best of Miller’s Batman year one, and some nods to the classic Dark Knight Returns.  The inner dialogue of Bats/Bruce in terms of trying to figure out what is the deal with this Court of Owls business is incredible.  Also, it is really neat to see the legacy of the Wayne family writ a little larger than Thomas and Martha Wayne.  Seeing the evolution of Gotham with the Waynes as benefactors and fellow travellers is really neat, and it dovetails interestingly with the whole return of Bruce Wayne storyline of Bruce living through some of his family’s history in order to return to the present.

Good news…Dick Grayson is no murderer.  But who is seeking to kill Bruce Wayne?  And what does a Gotham nursery rhyme have to do with it?  Who is the guy in the bones and talons?  What’s with all the owls?  This Court of Owls is very interesting.  Who are they?  Why is it Bruce has never encountered them?  Why do they want to take Bruce out?  The interplay between Bruce Wayne and the mayoral candidate is great.  Seeing Bruce Wayne in more than just the playboy sop role is a good read.  The end is action packed and the cliff hanger aspect of it leaves you looking forward for more.
