Concert Review: Hank Williams III

Hank Williams III
  Date: 12/3/2011
  Venue: Bogarts
  Location:  Cincinnati, Ohio

Hankering for a taste of honky tonk served with a side of metal and punk?

Then check out Hank 3 - grandson/son of legendary Country legends Hank Williams Sr. and Hank Williams Jr.  Many acts try and most fail but H3 gives them all a lesson in what the fans want.  A concert you will never forget nor ever seen duplicated.

Hank gives you a 3 course meal in the form of sets that show his artistic range from granddad’s classic county style, father’s rockabilly and his the 3rd’s in your face punk metal.  I was introduced to H3 many years ago, shortly after the release of Lovesick, Broke and Driftin' (2002)  and it wasn’t until within the last few years that I was able to catch a few of his shows.  WOW – this guy definitely gives it his all and never seems to stop .

The performance alone is top notch and the quality/sound is undeniably the best you can experience at a live venue.  I would recommend him in any setting, but if you have a chance to catch one of his smaller shows then by all means do it.

In order to prepare yourself - go over to his site and snatch up some of his albums.  I would recommend Risin' Outlaw (1999) for the classic country fan,  Straight to Hell (2006) and Damn Right, Rebel Proud (2008) for the more outlaw country fans.  Those interested in his harder stuff can grab some the Assjack ablums and his newest album Attention Deficit Domination (2011) is dedicated to late Layne Staley of Alice and Chains.

Hank Williams III isn’t following in his family’s footsteps, instead he is creating his own legacy.
Grandpa is proudly smiling down from heaven!!
